You buy one because of its iconic heritage, movement, and stunning appearance. Even if you’re a professional cave diver, you don’t buy a Submariner because you want to dive with it. They might have one as a backup, but they primarily rely on modern, digital electronics. Modern deep-sea divers generallt don’t use mechanical dive watches anymore. And, in point of fact, most modern tool watches aren’t. And as the iconic Rolex Submariner illustrates, a tool watch doesn’t have to be strictly utilitarian. Have you ever bought a dive watch?
